Mayonnaise as Furniture Polish
Mayonnaise for furniture polish? Yep!!
I starting a little project for my mom’s 75th birthday. It’s just a little something and I can’t wait to show it to you but since her birthday isn’t for another week, it will have to wait. I don’t want her to see it on my blog, if ya know what I mean (wink wink)! Anyway, in the mean time I am going to share a little trick I found on pinterest and actually tried! So many times I just “pin” things and do nothing with them, thinking someday I will. If I were an expert blogger I would photograph EVERYTHING I do so if something great happens I will have it for my blog. Like the other day when I decided to use Mayonnaise on my end table! WHAT? Yea, you heard that right! I was pretty convinced that my “pretty room” (the room that NO children are allowed in) was going to smell like eggs and vinegar or rotting mayo. So I didn’t photograph the “before” shot. Even in you haven’t known me that long you are going to have to trust me when I tell you there was a ring on the table from someone’s cup. It was probably from one of my children that aren’t allowed in the room! Anyway, trust me when I show you there is no ring, where a ring used to be. Here is the table…
The bottom right hand corner is where the ring was. Notice no ring? No ring at all! Oddly enough my room doesn’t smell like eggs or vinegar or mayonnaise. I was thinking this wasn’t going to work and I was wrong!
Just dab some mayo on a cloth and rub it all over and the ring is gone and the table looks polished.
Here is my only little note… This is not a high gloss table it is a dull finish table ( I actually got it out of my brother’s trash) What you say? Why would they throw this out…. no clue, but I am glad they did!
I do not know how this would work on a high gloss finish table, I don’t have one in my house. I may head to my parents house and try it there and let you know. Happy furniture polishing!
P.S. Just in case you see some scrapbooks and think “my, how does she have time” I can answer that for you. I don’t! I get to go away one weekend a year and scrap like mad, morning, noon and night. This is just a collection of years of weekend getaways. I do not have my children’s baby books done, just vacations, Christmas, maybe Easter or first day of school gets done. These only get done if I miss enough sleep while I am away~! (by the way, they aren’t even in order, just slapped in the big book and every year I say I am going to organize it and I don’t.
